  3. *Waldo version 3.1.2 -- Important Information*

  11. IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not include quotes in a Title. For some reason
  12. this will confuse Waldo and text will not format correctly!

  14. The Waldo archive requires an additional 470k of disk space to uncompact.
  15. 158+470 = 628k
  16. The actual size of Waldo without all of the documentation and Help Stacks
  17. is 183K.

  19. NOTE: Discard any any version of Waldo earlier than 3.0.6.
  20.  
  21. To run Waldo you should change the application size to 1000.
  22. Consult your Macintosh manuals for specific information on
  23. changing the size of programs.

  25. Version 3.1.2 Corrects the bug that occurs when selecting a File
  26. name from the File List to be loaded. In version 3.1.1 the selected
  27. File name was not being shown in the Load dialogue as it should have
  28. been. This is now corrected.

  30. Version 3.1.1 Corrects the bug that occurs when Transferring a Title from
  31. the Button Titles List to the Titles List. It also improves the
  32. interface.

  34. Version 3.1.1 refines Select function for Scan List as well as
  35. refining the List view of HyperButtons. In both cases the Message Box
  36. displays the number of the next item in the Queue in brackets.
  37. And Click will exit without repositioning an item Selected from the
  38. List.

  40. Version 3.1 is an update and adds many functions. Previous
  41. users of WALDO, as well as new users, should read all documentation.
  42.  
  43. Version 3.0.6.1 corrects for the lack of a return after a line 
  44. in WaldoDocs and for the title field at the bottom of Document Pages.

  46. Version 3.0.6 is a minor fix for functions in previous versions 
  47. including the Picture List and some other minor problems including
  48. not displaying XStacks™ with TwinText™ enabled.
  49. Check the Import Page in Waldo on the left upper corner for
  50. the current version number.

  52. NOTE: If in the course of using Waldo buttons and fields disappear then
  53. immediately compact your stack 2 or 3 times. Next quite HyperCard. Select
  54. HyperCard from the Finder. Choose Get Info (command I) from the File menu.
  55. Under Memory at the bottom right of the Info window there is

  61. NOTE: Waldo Version 3.0.6 and later replaces the "Picture" function
  62. with the "XStacks" function. XStack stands for eXternal Stacks.
  63. The new name reflects the great range of possibilities for this
  64. function rather than the limited term "Pictures."
  65. You may have as many XStacks as there are Pages in a given
  66. Waldo document (up to 999 Pages and XStacks).
  67. (The Picture function was limited to 10 different stacks.)

  69. To get started:

  71. Double click on the HyperCard Stack called Waldo_3.0.
  72. Click on the button called Import. Load the file called WaldoDocs 
  73. (WaldoDocs is in folder "WaldoDocs-F") using the
  74. Read option--this is the documentation for Waldo in Waldo format.

  76. All people should read the documentation (WaldoDocs) from within
  77. Waldo after loading WaldoDocs into Waldo. The documentation
  78. is complete and precise and you may not need to read it completely
  79. but loading it and reading it is a tutorial for Waldo. By examining 
  80. WaldoDocs with a wordprocessor you will see the advantage of
  81. reading with Waldo over a wordprocessor as well as seeing how to
  82. structure a Waldo document. (If your wordprocessor allows it enable
  83. the function that shows space and return characters--highly recommended!)

  85. You may want to disable HyperText Functions in the Waldo menu and
  86. concentrate on  the basic navigational buttons and then explore the
  87. HyperText Functions.

  89. Unless you own a copy of Second Sight BBS software then disable the Second Sight functions from the WALDO menu.

  91. Read through WaldoDocs. Hold down the shift key and the command key
  92. at the same time as the key with the question mark (?). Hold
  93. down all 3 keys till a Waldo help screen appears. (The stack WaldoHelp,
  94. which is included with Waldo must be at the same "level" as your copy of
  95. Waldo to load properly--if it is not then a dialogue box will appear asking for the file location).
